FAQs for Club Car Replacement Parts

How do I tell a Club Car DS from a Precedent?+

The DS is Club Car's classic platform (1982-onward): an upright flat dash with an exposed tubular front bumper. The Precedent (2004+) has a rounded 'egg-crate' body with an integrated front end. They don't share body panels, lift kits, or most front-end parts, so confirm the platform first — and because body photos can fool you, decode the serial number when in doubt.

The body looks like a DS but I'm not sure — how do I confirm?+

Don't go by looks alone; the surest way is to decode the serial number, which tells DS vs Precedent plus the model year. On a DS it's near the glove box on the dash bracket or stamped on the frame; on a Precedent it's under the dash bracket or on the rear frame rail. Not sure what you're reading? Call 678-331-7404 and we'll walk it with you.

Is my Club Car 36V or 48V?+

DS carts were 36V from 1982–1995, then 48V from 1995 on; Precedents have been 48V from the start. A quick check is the battery count — six 6V batteries is typically 36V, while four 12V or six 8V is 48V.

Does the Precedent's year matter for body kits?+

Yes, and 2008 is the big cutover. Pre-2008 Precedents have no factory headlight cutout in the cowl, and 2008-plus carts do, so integrated-headlight body kits are year-specific. Confirm your year before ordering a cowl or body kit.

Is the Club Car DS still made, and can I still get parts?+

The DS is no longer in production, but it had a long run and is one of the most common carts on the road, so replacement parts are widely available. Just confirm your year and your 36V-vs-48V setup so you get the right version.
