FAQs for Suspension
What are the signs my golf cart's suspension is worn out?+
The common tells are loose or wandering steering, clunking over bumps, the cart pulling to one side, and excessive bounce that keeps going after a bump. Loose steering usually points to worn tie-rod ends, a worn rack, or worn bushings, while clunking is typically leaf-spring or spindle bushings and blown shocks show up as that lingering bounce. Diagnosing the symptom first tells you which part to order.
Are suspension parts specific to my cart's make, model, and year?+
Yes — shocks, leaf springs, spindles, and steering parts are model- and year-specific, and the year splits trip people up most. The EZGO TXT changed front suspension and steering at pre-2014 versus 2014-plus, and the Yamaha Drive2 (2017-plus) revised the front end so Drive-era parts don't swap over. Have your serial number handy to confirm the year before ordering.
What's the difference between standard and heavy-duty suspension parts?+
OEM-replacement parts are the right call for a stock or lightly used cart returning to normal ride, while heavy-duty parts — like heavy-duty leaf springs and polyurethane bushing sets — are built for off-road use, heavily loaded utility carts, or carts with a 4-inch-plus lift. Poly bushings handle lateral load better than stock rubber but ride a touch firmer. Match the part to how you actually use the cart.
I have a lift kit — can I still use standard replacement shocks and springs?+
Often no — an A-arm lift replaces or modifies the control arms, spindles, and sometimes the steering rack, so some stock suspension parts are already superseded by kit-supplied parts. Installing OEM-length shocks on a 4-inch-plus lift is a classic mistake, because stock shock travel isn't enough and they can bottom out. Check your lift kit's parts list first, and if you're unsure which shocks match your lift height, call 678-331-7404 with your make, model, year, and lift.
How is this collection different from your make-specific front-suspension pages?+
This is the general hub covering shocks, leaf springs, bushings, A-arms, kingpins, spindles, and steering across all three major platforms, front and rear. If you already know you need front-end parts for one specific cart, the make-specific front-suspension pages narrow it down faster. Either way, match the part to your exact cart and year before you buy.
