When upgrading to a true 72-volt system—especially with a high-output controller—the solenoid becomes one of the most critical components in your electrical path. The Bolt Energy 72V Heavy-Duty Solenoid is built to withstand the heat, surge amperage, and rapid cycling that come with today’s performance setups. Standard solenoids simply can’t keep up.

This heavy-duty unit provides clean engagement, consistent voltage delivery, and long-term reliability for carts that see real usage: hills, passengers, larger tires, property routes, and high-demand acceleration profiles.

When You Need This Solenoid

If your controller is over 350 amps, this solenoid is strongly recommended—and often required.

Ideal for carts running:

• Navitas 440A & 600A controllers
• Navitas AC Conversion Kits
• Teekon 840A
• Alltrax 400A, 500A, 600A, 650A
• Any upgraded 72V performance or AC drive build
• Carts experiencing solenoid chatter, excessive heat, or intermittent dropout

Do You Need a Resistor and/or Diode?

Here’s the clear rule:

If you are installing a Navitas controller or a Navitas AC conversion → you do NOT need a resistor or diode.
These modern controllers are designed to operate without them.

If your existing OEM solenoid uses a resistor, you will need a heavy-duty replacement resistor.
Most 72V systems do not use diodes due to the high-voltage architecture.
