Bolt Energy 36V / 48V Heavy-Duty Solenoid (400+ Amp)

Reliable High-Current Switching for Upgraded 36V & 48V Systems

When a golf cart is upgraded with a higher-output controller or performance motor, the solenoid becomes one of the first components to show its limitations. The Bolt Energy Heavy-Duty 400+ Amp Solenoid is built to give modified 36V and 48V carts the clean, consistent power engagement that factory solenoids can’t reliably support.

This solenoid is designed to handle the elevated current demands found in torque upgrades, speed-focused builds, lifted carts, and anything running a modern aftermarket controller.

When This Solenoid Makes Sense

If your controller upgrade pushes your system beyond stock amperage (usually around 350 amps), this solenoid should be part of the build plan. It’s an excellent match for:

  • Navitas 440A & 600A controllers
  • Navitas AC Conversion systems
  • Teekon 840A
  • Alltrax 400A, 500A, 600A, 650A controllers
  • Carts running larger tires, rear seats, or added weight
  • Any 36V/48V build needing stronger switching performance

A heavy-duty solenoid helps prevent sluggish engagement, sticking contacts, or dropouts under load.

Do You Need a Resistor or Diode?

Here’s the simplified rule set:

If installing a Navitas controller or a Navitas AC conversion → no resistor or diode is required.
These systems are electronically designed to operate without them.

If your original solenoid uses a resistor, you’ll need a heavy-duty replacement:

Most modern upgraded 36V/48V carts do not require a diode. If you're unsure whether your OEM solenoid uses one, we can help verify.

Note:

  • Resistor and Diode not included
  • Solenoid color may vary

Advantages of Upgrading to a Heavy-Duty Solenoid

Choosing a stronger solenoid enhances both reliability and overall system performance:

  • More dependable activation under higher amperage
  • Reduced heat and minimized contact wear
  • Better response during acceleration or hill climbing
  • Longer component lifespan in modified carts
  • Smoother operation when carrying passengers or running accessories

For any build where the controller output increases, upgrading the solenoid is a smart safeguard.

Every little bit thing is gonna be alright

"Let me start out by saying extreme kartz customer service is nothing short of amazing. Now for the cart I have installed everything and I still have no forward or back movement. Something somewhere aint right. I don’t think it has anything to do with the parts I got from extreme kartz"

Dennis A. (5/5)

Simple install

"This upgrade was simple to install and provides confidence in reliability"

Joesph M. (5/5)

48 volt heavy duty solenoid

"I have a 2012 Bad Boy Buggy I’m restoring I installed these heavy duty solenoids on my buggy and I could just hear the difference they’re way stronger than what I had"

Kevin R. (5/5)

Great service

"Quick shipping, great quality, quick online support."

J G. (5/5)

Worked great

"The solenoid worked great and was easy to install. The power mounts had no marking for power in and power out so I had them reversed which freaked me out because the cart didn’t work. Once I flipped it then everything worked perfectly. Finding a new location to mount was also hard but I did it."

Irving C. (5/5)

"Great quality"

Raice (5/5)

Nice upgrade

"Had to make small modifications but well worth it."

Kyle L. (5/5)

What a beast

"This solenoid rocks is very good"

Michael R. (5/5)

Upgrade

"Replacing my factory controller to a navitus 440 amp controller the contactor worked great"

Lance w. (5/5)

Heavy duty!

"The solenoid is large and heavy. It appears to be of really good quality."
