FAQs for Yamaha Drive Parts & Accessories

How do I tell if I have a Yamaha Drive or a Drive2?+

Look at the headlights: dual round headlights mean you've got the Drive (G29, 2006–2016), while a single integrated headlight pod with a wider sculpted front is the Drive2 (2017+). That's the fast visual check — but for an exact generation, the serial number stamped on the chassis frame (under the driver-side floorboard) is the definitive answer, and a Yamaha dealer or your owner's manual can decode it to the exact year. It matters because the two share almost no body, lift, or front-end parts.

Is my Yamaha gas or electric, and does it change the parts I need?+

Yes, it changes things. A gas Drive or Drive2 has an engine and a single 12V starting battery; an electric has a 48V battery pack under the seat and a charge port. Even in the same body, the engine/motor cover, throttle pedal, charge port, and main wiring harness are different parts between gas and electric.

What years are the Yamaha Drive (G29), and how do I spot EFI vs carbureted?+

The Drive (G29) ran 2006–2016. Gas Drives were carbureted from 2006–2011 and switched to EFI (fuel injection) in 2012, so if you see a throttle body and fuel injector instead of a carburetor, it's a 2012-or-newer EFI. Fuel-system parts are specific to carb vs EFI, so confirm which you have.

Where's the serial number on my Yamaha, and do I need it to order parts?+

The serial number is the most reliable way to identify your Yamaha for parts — it pins down your generation, and a Yamaha dealer or your owner's manual can decode it to an exact year for fitment-sensitive components. Yamaha stamps it on the chassis frame, usually under the driver-side floorboard or near the accelerator pedal. If the badges are worn or you're unsure what you have, call 678-331-7404 with your cart and we'll help you pin it down.

Will Drive parts fit my Drive2, or the other way around?+

Usually not for body and cosmetic parts. The Drive (G29) and Drive2 share very little, so most body kits, lift kits, and front-end accessories are generation-specific. Confirm which one you have with the headlight check above, and if a listing says 'G29 only' or 'Drive2 only,' take it at its word.
