Bluetooth Sound Bars

Most Bluetooth sound bars are fairly universal — they clamp to the roof struts or mount overhead with included hardware, so they fit a range of carts. Some overhead audio consoles are model-specific, though, like ones built for the Yamaha Drive/Drive2 with a second-generation top. Sound bars run on 12 volts, but a golf cart's pack is 36V or 48V, so on an electric cart you tap 12V through a voltage reducer rather than straight off the pack. This is especially important on lithium-converted carts, which have no mid-pack tap point — without a reducer, the sound bar won't power up. Size the reducer to the sound bar's draw, which runs roughly 4–15 amps depending on wattage.

The ones built for carts use marine-grade, water-resistant components so they hold up to sun and the occasional rain, but "water-resistant" isn't "submersible." Look for a marine-grade or weather-rated sound bar if your cart lives outside, and still avoid direct spray where you can. The listing will note the water-resistance rating.

A Bluetooth sound bar pairs to your phone or device like any other Bluetooth speaker — power it on, select it in your phone's Bluetooth menu, and stream. Range is typically similar to other Bluetooth audio gear, best within a short line-of-sight distance from the bar. Keep your device toward the front of the cart for the most reliable connection.

A sound bar is an all-in-one — amplifier, speakers, and Bluetooth in a single unit that's the simplest to install and wire. A separate component system uses a standalone amp with individual speakers and a subwoofer for more power and better sound, but it's a bigger install.
