The difference between the Gen2 and Gen3 is that that Gen3 has a new feature called the Remote Battery wakeup. If you go with the Gen2 battery, that means that when your battery has been sitting unused for a long time, you'll need to lift up the seat to power on the battery, instead of from the comfort of your dashboard as in the Gen 3 experience.
Another difference is the warranty...Gen2 has an 8yr vs Gen3's 10yr warranty. Another difference in the warranty is that for years 4 and 5 of ownership, if there was an issue, you would need to pay more out of pocket for the Gen2 than you would if you had the Gen3. This is the reason for the discounted price. Aside from that, the Gen2 has the same dimensions, everything in the kit is the same, and you can expect the same excellent performance.

• Some battery chargers are CAN-enabled and will require the CAN plug to be connected to one of the two CAN ports.
• Ensure the battery power button is ON to accept a charge.
• For CAN communication-enabled chargers, connect the charger’s CAN plug to one of the two CAN ports on the meter cable.
• CAN ports are used for diagnostics or communication with motor controllers and chargers.
