Tech Tool: Do I need it?

Depending on your Icon's year, and depending on your needs, the Tech Tool is either required, optional, or not needed at all. We break it down for you, along with our advice, right here.

For the Icon 2017-2021.5 (lifted cart) - If your Icon came lifted in these years, your tire size is 23" and gear ratio is 14:1. These are the default settings in the Icon cluster for tire size & gear ratio. Meaning, if this describes your cart, the cluster will have accurate readings and will not need the tech tool to adjust your tire size and gear ratio specs. Therefore, NO tech tool is needed. If you are unsure if your cart's year is 2021 older edition, or 2021 newer edition, check your controller. This option, for the 2021 older edition, will have a Toyota Neos controller.

For the Icon 2017-2021.5 (non-lifted cart) - If your Icon did not come lifted, that means your gear ratio is likely not 23/14. This means you will need to the Tech Tool to program your cluster. Otherwise, your cluster will have slightly off MPH & Charge readings. Therefore, the Tech Tool is recommended. However, if you upgrade to the cluster with the backup camera (see add-to-cart option above), you do NOT need the Tech Tool as the programming can be accomplished in this upgraded cluser. If you are unsure if your cart's year is 2021 older edition, or 2021 newer edition, check your controller. This option, for the 2021 older edition, will have a Toyota Neos controller. Note, if you get the upgraded Cluster with the Backup camera, you can program it directly from the cluster, and therefore, you will not need the tech tool.

For the Icon 2021.5-2023 - The Tech Tool is required. Otherwise, the battery will not integrate with your Icon's controller & system. If you are unsure if your cart's year is 2021 older edition, or 2021 newer edition, check your controller. This option, for the 2021 newer edition, will have an Icon MCU.

• You will receive the Tech Tool along with an already paid for return label back to us
• You can use Eco Battery’s how-to videos for Tech Tool use. Or, we’d be glad to help as well!
• Once you finish using the tech tool,
• Simply place in a well-packaged box
• Use included return label back to our warehouse
• Once we receive the product and verify it’s in good condition, we will issue a refund to your credit card in the amount of $400 (note, this amount might be different if it is not returned in good condition)
• That’s it! You got to use an expensive tool for only $100 and now your cart & Eco battery are paired!

Install Tips From The Pros: Some battery chargers are CAN enabled, and will have a male CAN plug to connect to either one of the two CAN ports. If your charger is CAN enabled, the charger will NOT charge unless CAN is connected. Battery must be powered on with the power button illuminated to accept a charge. If your charger utilizes CAN charging, you will need to connect the CAN connector from the charger into either of the two CAN ports on the meter cable. CAN communication ports are used for diagnostics, or communicating with a charger or motor controller.
