Eco Battery Review: Is It Right For You? - (In-depth Version)

We are here to shoot straight with you, the golf cart owner.

Today, we’re going to use our years of experience with Eco Battery to give you our evaluation of the battery, the company, and how to decide if they are the best fit for you and your golf cart

There are six areas where Eco Battery excels and is arguably one of the best:

  1. Ease of installation
  2. Customer service and community
  3. Strength of BMS (think of it as the quality of the battery)
  4. Pairs great with upgrade controllers
  5. Their breadth of catalog
  6. Company stability

1. Easiest Installation in the industry:

Eco Battery’s bundles have cart specific hardware and mountain brackets. Plus, designing the battery with a thru hole, the only brand to have this, makes it easier to be secured with minimal modifications.

2. Customer Service and Thriving Community:

Eco Battery always answers the phone and are helpful if there’s an issue. Might seem basic, but this is actually a rarity in this industry. Plus because of popularity, you can go into any Facebook group and someone there is a proud Eco owner to help give you advice.

3. Strength of the BMS (brains of the battery):

This is where you get what you pay for. Cheaper lithium brands, often have trouble with their BMS shutting down the battery or getting tripped.

It's important to understand that it's not only the amperage specifications that matter, but also how the BMS (Battery Management System) handles that amperage. Eco Battery stands out with one of the lowest battery issue rates among all the brands we've encountered or carried.

4. Pairs Great with Upgraded Controllers (Navitas/Alltrax/Teekon)

Eco Batteries are particularly compatible with enhanced electronic speed controllers (ESCs) from brands such as Navitas, Alltrax, and Teekon. These upgraded controllers are designed to deliver better performance, efficiency, and control for electric golf carts. By pairing Eco Batteries with these controllers, you can expect improved power management, responsiveness, and overall performance of your golf cart. This combination helps maximize the benefits of lithium batteries, such as faster charging and longer range, making it an ideal choice for owners looking to enhance their cart’s capabilities.

5. Eco’s Breadth of Catalog:

Whether you just use it for golf or need tons of range and power, they have the MOST options out there that we feel comfortable recommending. Here’s the type of battery the might suit your lifestyle.

60Ah Battery

The 60Ah battery is perfect for those who primarily use their golf cart for golfing. It provides ample power for short trips, allowing you to enjoy your day on the course without the hassle of frequent recharges. This battery is designed to meet the needs of golfers who typically make quick jaunts between holes or the clubhouse, ensuring that you can complete a full round without worrying about running out of juice.

In addition to its impressive capacity, the 60Ah battery is lightweight and compact, making it easy to install and manage. Its efficient energy use allows for a longer lifespan, meaning you’ll get more rounds of golf between charges. This makes it an ideal choice for those looking to enhance their golfing experience without complicating their setup.

105Ah Battery

Ideal for neighborhood cruising, the 105Ah battery strikes a perfect balance between power and range. It’s designed for longer drives in residential areas, making it a great choice for daily use. Whether you’re running errands, visiting friends, or enjoying a leisurely ride, this battery provides the versatility you need.

This model offers increased capacity, which means you can enjoy extended trips without worrying about your battery life. Its robust design ensures reliability, even during those longer excursions. Plus, the energy efficiency of the 105Ah battery helps to minimize charging time, allowing you to get back on the road quickly after a recharge. It’s a dependable option for those who use their golf cart regularly in a neighborhood setting.

160Ah Battery:

The 160Ah battery is a robust option for off-roading and longer journeys, built to tackle tougher terrain and support extended usage without running low on power. This high-capacity battery is ideal for adventurers who enjoy exploring rugged trails or taking longer trips away from the golf course.

With its impressive energy output, the 160Ah battery can power your cart through steep inclines and challenging landscapes, ensuring you don’t miss out on any outdoor adventures. Its durable construction also means it can withstand the rigors of off-road driving, providing peace of mind as you navigate through various terrains. Whether you’re an avid off-roader or just enjoy a weekend getaway, this battery is designed to keep you moving.

70V 105Ah Battery:

Similar to the 105Ah model but with a higher voltage, the 70V 105Ah battery is engineered for off-roading and longer distances. It offers enhanced performance, making it a reliable choice for adventurous outings. The increased voltage not only boosts acceleration but also improves overall efficiency, ensuring you get the most out of your ride.

This battery excels in delivering the power needed for steep climbs and rough trails, providing a thrilling experience for those who love to explore. Its advanced technology ensures consistent performance, even in demanding conditions, making it a solid choice for both casual rides and serious off-road adventures. With the 70V 105Ah battery, you can confidently tackle any challenge the outdoors throws your way.

6. Company stability:

We have already seen a couple lithium battery brands shut down. I hope every current lithium battery company is still around 10 years from now. But one brand we’re definitely confident will be around is Eco Battery.

We’ve seen how well they run their company. And with their long-term contracts with many OEM golf cart manufacturers, that will keep them around for a long time.

If you’re considering Eco Battery, one bit of warning. There are many Eco Battery dealers out there that have never sold lithium batteries prior or have never even seen a lithium battery. Make sure you CALL your online store first to test them out.

When Eco Battery Is Not The Only Option:

Overall, you can’t go wrong with Eco but here’s a few areas where another brand might be a slightly better fit.

But again, don’t take this as a knock on Eco.

  • If you’re needing maximum power output (like for off-roading or reaching max speeds)Eco is good, and possibly good enough. But technically Bolt Energy has higher continuous amperage output of 250 and higher max amperage output of 520 for 30 seconds.

  • If length of warranty is a top priority, Eco has an 8 year warranty, and starts being prorated after year 3. This is great and above average compared to other lithium options. But the best warranty we have seen is Bolt Energy’s 10 year warranty.

  • If a budget solution is what you value most If saving a few bucks is your top priority over the strengths I just mentioned AND if you are pretty handy, not worried about any install difficulties, there are a couple of other good brands that we carry that you could consider
